Sweet Back - Biography

Sweetback mainly played in France, in clubs and festivals that program rock, groove music, world music. Some festivals we played in: « Les Transmusicales », « Les 3 éléphants », « Le Festival du Vent », « Les Hivernales du Jazz ». And a lot of clubs and bigger venues around our country.
Kham, upright bass, plays with Lo’Jo since 18 years, where he shared the stage with Magic Malick, Erik Truffaz, Archie Shepp, Gangbé Brass Band (Bénin).
He's also played with Robert Plant at « Le Festival au Désert » (Essakane, Mali), did a 10 gigs international tour with Justin Adams’ Juju, replacing his bass player.
Raggy, tenor sax, plays with Zenzile, a french dub/rock/electro band, since 1995 (www.zenzile.com). They toured the world and have released 15 records. He also played in a US hip-hop/jazz band named « Iswhat!? », with drummer Hamid Drake, for their european tours.
Mathieu, drums, has played in an industrial rock band named « Cut The Navel String » from 1992 to 1996. They released an album, « Takis », on Roadrunner label. He's also played in Lo’Jo from 2000 to 2005, and has accompanied Robert Plant with Kham. He did replacements with Terrakaft (Midem 2011) and Egyptian Project, participated in Tinariwen’s Imidiwan recording.
He is Sweet Back’s drummer since 2013.
